"BAT!" (pronounced "baht") is the Khmer word for "yes"—a term traditionally gendered in language, but here, reclaimed without boundaries. This zine collages hand-drawn imagery with family photo albums, offering a rare glimpse into the underground rave culture of Southeast Asian Americans in Orange County. A pulsing archive of psychedelia, experimentation, and belonging.

Soft Chick is the contributing illustrator for Knowing Our Joy: Stories of Southeast Asian Diaspora, the second anthology in the Planting SEADS series by The SEAD Project. This collection amplifies the voices of Southeast Asian elders, sharing personal histories of displacement, survival, and joy in the diaspora. Through evocative illustrations, Soft Chick visually interprets the personal story of Vietnamese refugee Chan Dao.
